FleetCo was established in the same pioneering spirit of the legendary Thiess brothers who redefined the mining and construction industries more than 80 years ago.

We’ve grown from strength-to-strength, and we’re proud of our success so far. Since our operations commenced in 2015, we have consistently delivered on our promise of delivering high quality, reliable and well-maintained equipment.

OUR HISTORY

August 2013

FleetCo became Incorporated

FleetCo was initially incorporated as a subsidiary of CIMIC. From the outset, it serviced CIMIC’s operating companies as an asset finance and management business focussing on the mining and construction industries.

June 2015

FleetCo became a wholly owned subsidiary of Thiess

As part of a CIMIC corporate restructure in 2015, FleetCo was sold to become a subsidiary of Thiess Pty Ltd, the Mining Operating company of CIMIC. FleetCo’s new strategy was to supplement the full-service offering from Thiess and supply dry and fully maintained hire to both new and existing Thiess clients.

June 2015

First FleetCo Hire

FleetCo’s very first hire was in the Bowen Basin in Queensland to BHP which consisted of 5 x Cat 797 360t Ultra Class trucks at the Blackwater Mine.

September 2015

First NSW Hire

FleetCo’s first hire in NSW was to Yancoal at the Duralie Coal Mine on the 1st September 2015. This hire consisted of two machines, a Cat 777 Water Truck & Cat 775 Service Truck. .

December 2015

First Glencore Hire

Not long after its first NSW hire, FleetCo entered into its first hire with Glencore with a Cat 777 Water Truck at their Mangoola site

July 2016

FleetCo was incorporated and began operations in Canada

As part of the global growth of the Thiess mining and mineral processing business, FleetCo was established in Canada to assist and hire equipment into the Thiess KMC JV in the Oil Sands in Alberta Canada.

July 2016

First WA Hire

FleetCo’s first hire in Western Australia was to McMahon at the Newcrest Telfer mine with a Cat D10 dozer.

November 2016

FleetCo was incorporated and began operations in Chile

A fleet from Mongolia was relocated to Chile to start-up operations in Chile.

January 2017

First Whitehaven hire

FleetCo’s flexibility and ability to work closely with customers was illustrated at Whitehaven Coal’s Werris Creek site, where we converted one of our Cat 740 articulated trucks into a Service Truck to meet their requirements. The problem faced was a tight pit design with limited turnaround space where they wanted to limit the refueling of the smaller truck that they ran.

April 2018

First Rio Tinto hire

FleetCo were approached by Rio Tinto to provide a replacement 600t Excavator at their Hail Creek mine as they were parking up one of their own assets. As a large mining equipment hire business, we had a solution with a Terex RH340 that we mobilised with minimum fuss.

April 2019

First hire Roy Hill

FleetCo’s relationship with Roy Hill began in early 2019 with the hire of 6 x 789’s to the Roy Hill mine in the Pilbara in the north of WA.

July 2019

First hire FMG

At the request of the FMG, FleetCo transitioned a fleet of equipment from an existing Thiess arrangement into a long-term Dry Hire which primarily consisted of 2 x Liebherr R9250 Excavators and 12 x Cat 789 Trucks at their Solomon mine site in the Pilbara.

January 2020

FleetCo established D&I strategy & action plan

FleetCo developed a Diversity & Inclusion Strategy with the objectives of:

Promote employment opportunities and pathways
Foster a culture built on understanding and respect
Embed inclusion as the way we do business

June 2020

Celebrated 5 years of operation

While 2020 brought on many challenges, FleetCo looked to the positives and celebrated 5 years of operation with a record year.
